The Plan: The Equitable Redevelopment Plan to Reclaim Gwinnett Place Mall was created through a series of community-driven feedback sessions to ensure local voices were heard, while the second study was a partnership between Gwinnett County, the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District, and the Atlanta Regional Commission through their Livable Centers Initiative program. The redevelopment action plan is expected to take place over the next 20 years.
Why It Matters: The strategy, called Global Villages, includes an action plan for the area’s transformation into seven villages surrounding a central park. This will help meet residents’ needs and requests for housing, small businesses, cultural activity centers, neighborhood services, and jobs.
