State Sen. Clint Dixon and his family have been the victims of two 9-1-1 hoaxes on back-to-back days this week, prompting police and fire fighters to rush to his home on Christmas and again on Tuesday.
Dixon said he and his family were the victims of a type of hoax called “swatting.” It’s were someone calls 9-1-1 and claims shots have been fired and a hostage situation is underway at a person’s home. Law enforcement, having to take a call to 9-1-1 seriously, shows up at the home in S.W.A.T. gear to respond to what they believe is a real situation.
