The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners has a new vice chairman and it’s someone who was reprimanded by the board two months ago for not disclosing a potential conflict of interest in 2022.
The board named Commissioner Kirkland Carden as the vice chairman for 2024. In November, the board voted to reprimand Carden over an ethics complaint filed against him, which argued he had violated county rules and not disclosed a potential conflict of interest involving a zoning request that was denied in 2022. Carden had worked as a political consultant with one of the people tied to the zoning request.
