JONESBORO — The U. S. Marshal Service is offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Garon Turner, who is at-large after pulling a gun on officers during a Dec. 20 traffic stop.
Turner is at-large after pulling a gun on Clayton County police officers, who then shot at him during the traffic stop.
Thursday afternoon, the Clayton County County Police Department identified the suspect as Garon Turner.
According to the CCPD, on Wednesday at about 11:36 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop while out on patrol in the area of Upper Riverdale Road and Tara Boulevard.
Upon Turner exiting the vehicle at officers’ request, he fled on foot.
During the foot pursuit, officers saw the suspect pull a handgun from Turner’s waistband. The officers subsequently fired at the Turner, who continued to evade officers on foot.
Police said no officers were injured during this incident and the suspect is still at large. A handgun was found on scene.
The investigation is ongoing and active, police said.
Turner is wanted for aggravated assault and police said he is believed to have fled the immediate area on foot.
Turner should be considered armed and dangerous, police said and urged the public to not approach him.
Turner has multiple tattoos — a breast cancer symbol and a teardrop on the right side of his face. Above his eye on the right side is a bird tattoo with lips. Turner has a tattoo depicting the word “brother” on his right hand and “keeper” on his left hand.
