Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, has been recognized with the Aspire Diversity Award from Lawyers of Color (LoC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities.
“We are deeply honored for this recognition from Lawyers of Color as a reflection of our deliberate and passionate efforts to promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion within our firm and industry,” said Martine Cumbermack, chair of Swift Currie’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. “Our profession still has a long way to go in this area, and we remain energized and committed to doing our part to continue enacting much-needed progress.”
The Aspire Diversity Award recognizes law firms that satisfy at least two of three criteria related to diversity, including having at least one professional with the word “equity,” “diversity” or “inclusion in their title; having at least one attorney of color who is a managing partner, executive/management committee member or practice group head; and having at least 4 percent Black attorneys. Swift Currie meets all three criteria.
As the firm continues its growth as one of the nation’s largest firms solely dedicated to litigation, Swift Currie’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and firm leadership lead the efforts to improve diversity, inclusion and awareness in the firm and the community. With the support of the firm’s Executive Committee and leadership, the Diversity Committee develops a strategic plan each year to focus on the firm’s inclusion initiatives in the areas of recruitment and retention efforts across all levels, awareness, education, pipeline initiatives, affinity group sponsorships, professional development, mentorship and diversity news and workshops. Swift Currie is also a proud participant of the Mansfield Rule Certification Program for midsize law firms.
