JONESBORO — Seven candidates are running in a May 21 special election for the Clayton County Board of Commissioners District 1 seat.
The seat became open after former District 1 Commissioner Alieka Anderson resigned to run for County Commission chair.
At the end of qualifying Friday, the following candidates had registered to run for the seat — Hackwin Devoe, Eddie Gordon, Junior “JJ” Jackson, Emmett McCord, Alaina Reaves, Arvis Walker and Rahmel Willis.
Monday, April 22 is the last day to register to vote for all individuals who are not registered to vote and who want to vote in the special election.
Early voting begins April 29.
