JONESBORO — The Clayton County Public Schools Innovation Evening Academy begins in January, and registration is open through Dec. 15.
“The establishment of the Innovation Evening Academy is another in a series of cutting edge steps by this administration to provide the most complete academic support for all students enrolled in Clayton County Public Schools,” said CCPS Superintendent/CEO of Schools Anthony W. Smith. “We are taking the concept of ‘no child left behind’ to another, more inclusive level as we continue Building A Better Tomorrow, Today.”
The Innovation Evening Academy is a face-to-face opportunity designed to provide students with an opportunity to take high school classes after traditional hours and earn high school credit toward their high school diploma.
This program is best suited for students who work during the day or serve as a caregiver. The academy will operate more productively in an evening face-to-face and smaller setting.
The Innovation Evening Academy is for students in grades 10 to 12 who are at least 16. It will be at the Perry Career Academy in Jonesboro and will be in session Monday to Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
It is important to note that due to the time of day and available staffing, there may be a limitation to the course and program offerings during the Innovation Evening Academy, the school system said.
However, students will still be able to participate in their core and elective classes, receive industry-recognized credentials for select programs, and participate in internships.
