JONESBORO — Clayton County is looking for ways to generate additional revenue with private and public partnerships — and one in particular could be a Game Changer.
Rob Hanna, CEO of Game Changer Nation, gave a presentation to the Clayton County Board of CommissionerS during an Oct. 9 work session to discuss the potential partnership.
Hanna — a former professional basketball player — said his company believes in the power of sports, recreation, the building of healthy communities and facilities to help drive new revenue and investment.
He emphasized that bringing championship level events to the county will not only give local athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills but will impact the economic development of the county.
Locally this summer, Game Changer Nation conducted a national junior college basketball showcase at Morrow High School, Hanna said, which featured 500 athletes.
He also said one of the ways Game Changer Nation works with business and governments is to repurpose facilities and cited projects with the city of Houston and Suwanee.
Commissioner Alieka Anderson said she had some constituents who have asked her about building sports complexes here in Clayton County, so families won’t have to travel.
“We have to do something different and innovative for our children,” Anderson said.
