Continuing its efforts to ensure a smooth and efficient election process, the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) has relaunched www.GaPollWorker.com, a targeted initiative aimed at attracting a new population of poll workers. Metro Atlanta companies can encourage their employees to sign up to assure efficiency across the state for Georgia’s 2024 primaries and general election.
MAC originally launched www.GaPollWorker.com in response to the urgent need for elections support in 2020. Since then over 3,000 individuals have signed up to be poll workers across 61 counties, but the need continues with every election cycle. Employees from Delta Air Lines, The Home Depot and IHG Hotels & Resorts were the most active participants with hundreds of people signing up to help ensure that Georgia delivers accurate and transparent elections.
“As we continue to actively engage in recruiting poll workers for Georgia’s 2024 primaries and general election, we hope to see even more people step up across the state,” said Katie Kirkpatrick, president and CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. “We understand just how vital poll workers are to the democratic process.”
Poll workers are an essential part of assuring fair and efficient elections, and they build trust and public confidence in the voting process. In the 2024 election, their significance will be paramount as they ensure the smooth functioning of precincts, assist voters and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
An important part of the democratic tradition, poll workers assist voters in simple but vital ways: opening polling places, checking in voters, issuing ballots, safeguarding the voting process and more. Continuing to recruit for this role encourages individuals from diverse backgrounds to contribute to democracy in their home counties.
