The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), in partnership with Page Turners Make Great Learners, an Atlanta non-profit focused on childhood literacy, Synchronicity Theatre, Atlanta Public Schools and the City of Atlanta hosted the fourth annual Storybus on Friday, March 1, this year titled ‘A Streetcar Named Desire to Read.’
Page Turners Make Great Learners launched the Storybus in partnership with MARTA in 2018 to encourage students to read and connect the skill of reading to the wider world. This year to celebrate Read Across America Day, students rode the Streetcar through Downtown Atlanta while hearing stories read by MARTA Streetcar General Superintendent Lawrence Graham, and others.
“MARTA is proud to partner with Page Turners Make Great Learners along with the City of Atlanta and Synchronicity Theatre to encourage literacy and instill a love for reading,” said Graham. “MARTA is delighted to be part of events that actively engage students with reading while enjoying the experience of public transportation.”
