JONESBORO — A man was convicted Thursday on multiple drug charges from a 2018 investigation.
According to the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office, Harry Rainey was found guilty of trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking in illegal drugs, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in ecstasy, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
The DA’s Office said he faces a maximum of 150 years in prison and sentencing will be done at a later date.
According to the DA’s Office, the Clayton County Police Department began a narcotics investigation on July 18, 2018.
The investigation into Rainey’s suspected drug activity culminated in a search warrant on the defendants’ (husband and wife) home. Police found three pill presses and several types of drugs throughout the home.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation tested the heroin, but the other drugs were field tested. The court was presented with case law that held the drug field tests can support a conviction, the DA’s Office said.
“We hope the citizens of Clayton County can rest easier knowing another drug dealer is off our streets,” Clayton County DA Tasha Mosley said. “As always, I commend my office on their tireless work to secure justice on behalf of all Clayton County citizens.”
