A Lawrenceville man was arrested one week after a burned body was discovered inside a burned vehicle in Forest Park.
On Sept.13, Forest Park police and firefighters responded to a location where they observed a vehicle engulfed in flames.
After firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, a body was discovered inside the trunk of the burned vehicle, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to the CCSO, warrants were obtained Sept. 20 for Akiri Ursery-Nichols, 30, 855 Madison Chase Way, Lawrenceville.
Four hours later, a CCSO investigation led officers to Gwinnett County.
Deputies from the CCSO and Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office cornered Ursery-Nichols in a Gwinnett County residence where he surrendered without incident.
Ursery-Nichols,is now in custody at the Clayton County Jail for malice murder, felony murder, and first degree arson.
Usery-Nichols had a first appearance hearing Sept. 21 in Clayton County Magistrate Court and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 18.
