The Jonesboro High School Mock Trial Team placed fifth in the recent Empire World Championship held in Chicago.
The event features more than 40 teams from five countries and more than 20 states.
The team faced four other teams from Florida, New Jersey, Oregon, and Virginia earning nine ballots and a point differential of +89 — or 89 more points than their opponents.
Jonesboro will begin working on a new case through the Georgia High School Mock Trial and will begin its quest to defend the school’s 2023 state title — Jonesboro’s 12th overall state title.
Team members are Cameron Jones, Kerrington Cutter, Anna Davis, Rasaq Olowoeshin, Alonzo Williams, Kirah Shepard, Joi Googer, Stephanie Ezenne, Aidan Brooks, Judah Whaley, and Destinee Ponder. Coaches are: Andrew Cox, Anna Cox, and Tayiah Cash.
