FOREST PARK — The Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has recognized Forest Park City Council member Hector Gutierrez as one of the 50 Most Influential Latinos in Georgia.
Gutierrez was joined by dozens of other community leaders from across the state during a special awards luncheon recently held at Truist Park in commemoration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
“Our awards recognition is a celebration of our community’s impact and contribution to our great state,” said Veronica Maldonado-Torres, GHCC president and CEO. “It serves as a reminder on how each of us has the potential to change the narrative and leave a legacy for those that follow. “
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Gutierrez was elected to the Forest Park City Council in November 2020 as the representative for Ward 3.
With more than 10 years experience providing leadership and training to children and adults, Gutierrez currently serves as a community schools supervisor with Clayton County Public Schools where he is responsible for implementing dynamic education programs for on behalf of various stakeholder groups.
“Our city is extremely fortunate to have dedicated public servants, like Councilman Gutierrez, who work tirelessly to strengthen the voice, influence and networks of the Latino/Hispanic community,” said Forest Park Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA. “He is a shining light here locally and across the entire state. For that, we all join in congratulating him on this outstanding achievement.”
Gutierrez received his bachelor’s degree in world history and cultures, as well as Spanish language and literature, from Kennesaw State University.
