The Department of Transportation and Development will temporarily close the Valley Hill Road bridge Friday, May 19.
Contractors are in the final phase of an $8.1 million bridge replacement funded by the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
“The closure is necessary to allow the concrete to harden without the vibration from traffic,” said Clayton County Transportation and Development Assistant Director Keith Rohling.
Traffic control measures and signage are in place to guide motorists. Motorists are urged to use caution and plan for alternate travel routes.
The plan is to reopen the bridge Monday, May 22 before 6 a.m.
