CLAYTON COUNTY — Representatives of Atlanta Gas Light’s South Metro service center recently presented donation checks to two organizations that serve Clayton County.
Operation Lunchbox
The company presented $15,000 to Operation Lunchbox — an organization that provides free food for homeless and underprivileged children in Clayton, Henry, Jasper, and surrounding counties.
“Atlanta Gas Light is honored to provide nourishment to families in need by supporting Operation Lunchbox’s mission to fight hunger,” said Atlanta Gas Light Operations Manager Travis Williams.
Operation Lunchbox founder and executive director Dave Newman said the donation will help provide meals for more than 3,000 children.
“We’re proud of our partnership with Atlanta Gas Light and their generous support to help feed children in our communities,” said Newman.
Sisters Empowerment Network Inc.
The company provided $20,000 to Sisters Empowerment Network Inc. — a non-profit women’s organization dedicated to aiding women and their children victimized by domestic abuse and in need of resources and other tangible services.
The company’s donation to Sisters Empowerment Network is to fund a new initiative called the Resourceful Instructions for Successful Employment (R.I.S.E.) Training Program designed to help women who are victims/survivors of domestic violence and offer workforce development opportunities.
“This new program will provide an opportunity and sense of pride for women as they transition into main-stream society and begin a new lease on life,” said Veda Brown, founder and executive director of Sisters Empowerment Network.
