JONESBORO — The deadline is approaching for homeowners who want to file an appeal on their 2023 property tax assessments.
The deadline is June 2 at 11:59 p.m.
In a presentation to the Clayton County Board of Commissioners during its May 16 meeting, Chief Appraiser Emitte George said the online portal will be up until that time. But he added if there are issues, contact the Tax Assessors office.
You can also appeal through the mail (as long as it’s postmarked by June 2) or at the office.
Assessment notices were mailed April 28 and George said, like in the previous year, there was a significant increase in home sales in 2022.
From January 2021 to December 31, 2022, the median home price went from $160,000 to $262,000 — a jump of more than 60%.
770-477-3285. If you need to come to the office, the Tax Assessors Office is at Annex 4, Fourth Floor, 121 S. McDonough St., Jonesboro.
