MORROW — In a showcase of academic and professional collaboration, the College of Business at Clayton State University hosted a recent forum titled “Headline News: How is your Brand, Business, and Education Impacted?”
The March 23 forum spearheaded by Dr. Carin Lightner-Laws and organized by dedicated students Royal Brown and Claribel Ross, the event brought together the Clayton State family, community leaders, and industry professionals to engage in vital discussions about the influence of current news and social media trends on various sectors.
The forum featured seven morning sessions with industry leaders, including:
— “Swiftonomics: The Taylor Swift Effect on the Economy?” with Economists and Clayton State University Professors Brian Hunt and Dr. Iryna Hayduk.
— Insights into the “Gig Economy” from entrepreneur and content creator Brian Ezeike of WOB Films & JIDE Gear.
— An exploration of “Supply Chain in the Tech Industry” with Google Program Managers AJ Omas, Tahnee Johnson, and Tyrone Stevens.
— “Get in the Game,” featuring insights from the Atlanta Braves Senior Director of Facility Operations, Dawn Gepfer.
— A critical look at “Is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Dead?” with Tamulah Yelling, Director and Senior Counsel for Hibbett Sports.
— Current Events and Accounting” by Fre Greene, Founder and CEO of Gage St. Society.
— “Social Media in Government: How to Reach Your Audience,” with Antoine Boynton, Gwinnett County Government’s Social Media Manager.
The afternoon was highlighted by a panel discussion on “Building a Professional Digital Presence,” featuring Bridgette McDonald of Clayton State University’s Career Services, Eric Perry of Fox 5 News, and Janet Smith, Vice President of Experiences at Octagon.
