MORROW — Clayton State University recently celebrated the grand opening of its Innovation Center.
While the Innovation Center held a soft opening gin the fall of 2022, the university held a grand opening Tuesday, Oct. 24.
The Innovation Center will be a place to implement initiatives, and host workshops and events to further the Clayton State College of Business’s mission and vision.
As part of the mission, the Innovation Center will foster innovation, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and more. And it’s not just for students but the community as well.
“I am overwhelmed duty the presence in this room and my support from the community,” Innovation Center Manager Jalen Teal said at the grand opening.
Also as part of the grand opening, IDEO Partner and Chief Information Officer Wesley Eugene sat down for a “fireside chat” with Clayton State professor Leon Prieto in the Innovation Center’s 135-seat capacity auditorium.
The topic was “The Power of Purpose: Designing for Profit and Social Impact.”
“It’s really an incredible event to be here at the opening of the Innovation Center here at CSU and making sure that (the local area) is anchored in innovation — and all that innovation moves through this center,” Eugene said. “It’s a brilliant vision.”
Since its soft opening in 2022, the Innovation Center has hosted several events, including the Center for Women in Leadership Conference, the Women on Wednesday’s Speaker Series, the Clayton County Legislative Delegation Town Hall, College of Information and Mathematical Sciences Symposium, Jim Wood Speaker Series, Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Series, and more.
