JONESBORO — Clayton County Public Schools recently hosted its annual Spelling Bee with Adamson Middle School eighth-grader James Pham winning the competition.
After 19 rounds of Jan. 24 spelling competition, here is a glance at the top finishers:
First Place: James Pham, Adamson Middle School, eighth grade.
Second Place: Taj McNab, Kay Pace School of the Arts, fifth grade.
Third Place: Abigail Lavoie, Edmonds Elementary School, fifth grade.
Fourth Place: Nideya Suero, Rex Mill Middle School, eighth grade.
Fifth Place: Zoe Eafford, Smith Elementary School, fourth grade.
Retired CCPS educator Kristie Heath served as pronouncer at this year’s event.
The event was presented by the English Language Arts Department, led by Elementary English Language Arts Coordinator Ebony Brown and Secondary English Language Arts Coordinator Regina Willingham.
The school system also acknowledged efforts at both the elementary and secondary levels from team members Tekessa Adams, Tiffanie Barner Davis, Monica Jones, Fajetta Banks, Alan Hosley, Angela Hutton, and administrative assistants Taylah Cash, Jazreale Jinks, and Martha Bain.
