COLLEGE PARK — GlassesUSA, one of the nation’s largest online prescription retailers, is making Clayton County home to its new U.S. Headquarters and Optical Lab and Fulfillment Center.
The 40,000-square foot optical lab at 640 Airport South Pkwy., Suite 400, College Park, is a robotic fulfillment lab and brings an investment of $10 million and 75 jobs.
The company said access to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the Port of Savannah to send and receive products as key factors for the location decision.
The new headquarters lab and fulfillment center can support the customization of more than 12,000 pairs of prescription eyewear on a daily basis.
“With the help of robotics and increased automation and innovative technologies with our supply chain process, GlassesUSA.com can better meet customer needs and demands and gain a more competitive edge in the market,” said Chief Operations Officer and co-founder Eldad Rothman. “Our overall goal of this new Optical Lab and Fulfillment Center is to increase efficiency, speed, and accuracy and to deliver what the customer needs as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
The new Optical and Fulfillment Center not only creates new jobs in Clayton County and the south metro Atlanta market, but also revolutionizes the structure of GlassesUSA.com supply chain (processes, automation, and individual supply chain tasks) resulting in the most efficient operations possible, a press release stated.
