JONESBORO — The Clayton County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday, March 9, the conviction of Victoria Anderson for the 2018 fatal shooting of Maurice Nichols.
The DA’s office said a jury found Anderson, 37, of Stockbridge, guilty on all counts of the indictment — malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and criminal trespass.
The DA’s office said that on Aug. 7, 2018, Anderson went to Nichols’ home in Riverdale and they argued over a swim vest.
According to information from the DA’s Office, Nichols entered Anderson’s vehicle to remove it from his driveway.
Anderson fatally shot Nichols in front of a minor, who was in the rear of the vehicle, the DA’s Office stated in a press release.
The trial began March 25 and finished March 29 after the jury deliberated for two days.
Sentencing will be scheduled for a later date.
Anderson is currently being held in the Clayton County Jail.
“Though I applaud my team on the conviction, I am saddened another life was lost to gun violence,” Clayton County DA Tasha Mosley said. “As always, I commend my office on their tireless work to secure justice on behalf of all Clayton County citizens.”
