JONESBORO — In its Sept. 25 work session, the Clayton County Board of Education unanimously approved to accept Perkins V Program Improvement Grant funding for the CTAE program.
The CCPS Career, Technical & Agricultural Education program will receive more than $1.61 million, nearly $400,000 more than last fiscal year.
Money from the Perkins grant must be budgeted to improve CTAE, according to the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006.
“These limited funds must be targeted for new or improved activities that promote pathway completion, attainment of credentials and post-secondary options for high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand careers,” a statement on the Sept. 25 agenda packet read. “Georgia, like many other career and technical education programs around the nation, has worked in recent years to establish a measurement mechanism to ascertain the level of technical skill attainment on behalf of its career pathway completers.”
