JONESBORO — The Clayton County Board of Education has approved the proposed academic calendar for the 2024-25 school year.
The calendar, approved Jan. 8, has 180 days for students and 190 for teachers and includes new teacher orientation, four pre-planning days, various holidays and breaks, three staff development days, two extended learning beyond the class days, and three post-planning days.
A glance at some dates on the calendar:
July 19 to 25: New teacher orientation.
July 29 to 31: Pre-planning.
Aug. 1: The first day of school.
Sept. 7 to 11: Fall break.
Nov. 25 to 29: Thanksgiving break.
Dec. 23 to Jan. 3: Semester break.
Jan. 6: Staff development.
Feb. 14: Staff development.
March 14: Staff development.
April 7 to 11: Spring break.
May 23: Last day of school.
A general interest survey taken with two versions of the 2024-25 calendar was shared with all stakeholders.
The version approved by the school board was preferred by 72.8% of the respondents.
