JONESBORO — The late deadline for Clayton County Public Schools magnet program applications is March 1.
The on-time magnet school application deadline was Dec. 1 with late applications being accepted Feb. 1 through March 1.
Other CCPS application deadlines:
Pre-kindergarten: Applications open March 1 and continue through March 18.
Virtual learning: Applications open for the 2024-25 school year on April 1 and continue through Apri 30.
School transfers: Applications will be accepted from April 15 to June 3.
In an update to the Clayton County Board of Education at its Jan. 29 work session, Assistant Superintendent of Strategic Improvement Monika Wiley said the school system is on track with its new school choice programs at West Clayton and Martin Luther King Jr. elementary schools and North Clayton Middle School.
West Clayton will offer a new STEAM program while MLK will offer zoology and botany. North Clayton Middle will offer a STEM program.
Wiley added that with North Clayton High School enhancements, surveys will be going out to parents at area schools to get their input.
Surveys will go out to Northcutt, West Clayton, and Northcutt elementary schools, and North Clayton Middle. As those schools feed into North Clayton High, the school system wants to make sure it gets input from those parents.
Wiley said North Clayton High is looking at adding meteorology to its aviation program.
