Match Play Brands, a newly launched platform developed to house a collection of performance sports brands, announces it will combine two companies PCKL (pronounced pickle) and Piper Golf under its umbrella brand. Led by former KontrolFreek executives, Match Play Brands is developing the consumer-focused sports companies for their specialization of innovative, professional-quality pickleball and golf products.
Leading the effort is Executive Chairman Ashish Mistry, President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Gottfried, and Vice President of Operations Scott Mannear, among other former team leaders. Each draw on their past experience building KontrolFreek as they transition from the world of e-sports to athletic sports gear.
Mistry says of the team, “It feels great to get the band back together for this exciting new venture. And, similar to our passion for excelling in the performance gaming gear market, we see great potential in driving innovation for the expanding pickleball and golf markets of today.”
PCKL, LLC and Piper Golf are the first companies under the Match Play Brands portfolio. PCKL, which recently received $4 million in funding led by BLH Venture Partners, offers high-performance pickleball paddles, balls, and other gear online, at retail, in clubs, and resorts. Piper Golf specializes in tour-quality golf ball subscriptions.
