ATLANTA — During the holiday season, Amazon and The Warrior Alliance fulfilled holiday wish lists for 60 Georgia military families, providing more than 600 gifts and essential items at The Warrior Alliance offices.
The selected families that received holiday gifts represent installations throughout Clayton, Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Spalding counties.
Amazon employee volunteers wrapped gifts on site at The Warrior Alliance office in Cobb County, and helped families carry gifts and bicycles to their vehicles Dec. 18.
Georgia has the fourth largest population of Veterans in the nation.
The Warrior Alliance began providing wraparound services to transitioning active-duty military, National Guard, Reserve, veterans, and their families in 2018.
The Alliance partnered with the Georgia National Guard Solider and Family Readiness team to identify families that would be impacted by upcoming deployment, and that self-identified they would need assistance in providing for their families during the holiday season.
Some of the most requested essential items included baby food, diapers, clothes for the upcoming school year and food for Christmas dinner.
“As a result of the current state of affairs, some members of the Georgia National Guard will be deployed in a few days to support current military operations throughout the world, said Jarrad Turner, Vice President of Strategic Partnership for The Warrior Alliance. “When a service member prepares to leave their loved ones, they often wonder, ‘who’s taking care of home when I’m gone?’ So again, it’s about community, collaboration and being committed and that’s what Amazon has done. Not just for one day, but they do this throughout the year. That’s why we are so incredibly happy to work side by side with them.”
