JONESBORO — Three employees of Clayton County’s Rainbow House have been arrested on numerous charges including child molestation, sexual assault and statutory rape.
Rainbow House provides temporary shelter for abused, neglected and abandoned children.
According to Clayton County police, Rainbow House employee Caleb Xavier Randolph, 25, engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with at least one child at the facility.
The investigation revealed that Mia Kimber, Rainbow House executive director and Randolph’s mother, had direct knowledge of the incident. Police said Director of the Child Advocacy Center Monica Jones was also privy to the misconduct. Both women failed to report the incident and take corrective action. Instead, investigators said the pair covered up the incident and had the juvenile victim removed from the facility based on false allegations.
Randolph was fired, then rehired a week and a half later where he continued to have contact and interact with juveniles at the home.
Clayton County police said they began their investigation on March 15 following an anonymous tip about sexual misconduct at Rainbow House.
On March 16, police arrested Randolph on charges of child molestation, statutory rape, sexual assault of a person over whom have supervisory/disciplinary authority over and sexual assault by facility employee/agent/volunteer.
Kimber and Jones were arrested on March 18 and March 20, respectively, and charged with party to a crime of child molestation, statutory rape, sexual assault, sexual exploitation and mandated reporting.
Police said the investigation is ongoing which may result in future arrests.
