The Gist: A shooting in Roswell has resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old man on charges of aggravated assault.
One person was injured in the shooting.
What Happened?: On the evening of Sept. 1, several reports of gunshots were made to Roswell E-911, alerting them to an incident in the 200 block of Barrington Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a dispute between individuals who knew each other had escalated into gunfire. By that time, all parties involved had fled the scene.
Shortly after, a 22-year-old man arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm.
During the investigation, police say it was revealed that Derrick Washington was present at the Barrington Drive address when the victim was driven there by a third party. As the victim approached Washington in the driveway, police say Washington drew a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking the victim once in the arm.
The third party who had driven the victim then returned fire, but no one was injured by those shots.
Washington was subsequently apprehended without incident. He was taken into custody and transported to the Fulton County Jail, facing charges of aggravated assault.
Currently, he is the only individual facing criminal charges, and there are no outstanding suspects in the case.
