ATLANTA – In anticipation of heightened travel during the upcoming holiday season, the Georgia Department of Transportation has declared a temporary suspension of lane closures along Georgia interstates, major state routes and roadways near major shopping centers, malls or districts.
The suspension will start at 5 a.m. Friday and will extend through 10 p.m. Dec. 26 for the Christmas weekend. Similarly, for the New Year’s weekend, lane closures will be suspended from 5 a.m. on Dec. 29 until 5 a.m. on Jan. 2.
