Camden County Corrections Officer Faces Severe Charges Following Jailhouse Incident

The Gist: A Camden County Sergeant Corrections Officer, Joshua Beauchamp has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, false statements, and violation of oath of public office after a reported use of force incident in the local jail.

According to the GBI, the case arose after an inmate was found unconscious following an altercation with Beauchamp.

What Happened?: According to reports, on July 3, a dispute broke out while Beauchamp was escorting a handcuffed inmate to an isolation cell.

According to the GBI, during this verbal exchange, Beauchamp reportedly shoved the inmate into a door. The door opened, causing the inmate to strike his head and lose consciousness.

Following the incident, the inmate was treated and released from Southeast Georgia Health System.

Beauchamp was subsequently booked at Camden County Jail.
