Sharon Reed, CEO
Sharon Reed is an EMMY award-winning journalist known for her thought-provoking interview style and engaging on-screen presence. At Black News Channel, Sharon helped the start-up network establish emerging loyalty weekday mornings. Start Your Day with Sharon & Mike delivered a diverse presentation of news, entertainment, politics and pop culture.
Sharon’s background includes substantial work as anchor and reporter in Miami, Philadelphia, St Louis, and Cleveland. Her time as primary evening anchor in Atlanta included the successful launch of CBS-46 News at 9 on Peachtree TV, the first 9pm newscast in the television market. There, she took ownership of a number of major local events including the Atlanta Pride Parade and the SEC Championship. She landed an exclusive “exit interview” with the outgoing embattled Mayor of Atlanta Kasim Reed. Sharon has moderated political debates and hosted town halls on gun violence and justice reform.
Sharon is a strong believer in community involvement and investment, and has consistently supported charitable events and appearances including domestic violence prevention and minority health and awareness. In St. Louis, where she was also the principal weeknight anchor, Sharon helped launch the “Take Back the Streets” and “End Violence STL” campaigns. She was also active with the St. Louis Crisis Nursery, American Heart Association and Gateway to Hope. She began her broadcasting career as an on-air correspondent for the syndicated program “American Journal” right out of college. Sharon is a graduate of Georgetown University and holds a Master’s Degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Of all her accomplishments, Sharon is most proud to be called Mom by her beautiful daughter Ava.
