JONESBORO — According to a May 31 Nixle alert, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office arrested a contracted employee for theft and fraud.
It was the fourth time in a week that CCSO employees had been arrested.
On May 26, corrections officer Tabitha S. Clifton and jail nurse Jessica Castellanos were arrested for giving contraband to inmates. On May 25, corrections officer Sean William Hollinshead was arrested for planning and orchestrating a “vicious attack” on an inmate.
In what is being called by the CCSO as “Operation Clean House”, Sheriff Levon Allen said on May 31 “moments ago, I gave the order to my Elite Fugitive Squad to find and take into custody the fourth employee/contractor at the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.”
The Sheriff’s Office obtained warrants for contracted employee Iyana Niara Dixon, 33, 8642 Oxford Circle Plumtree Drive, Riverdale, for financial transaction fraud and theft by taking.
According to Clayton County court records, Dixon was scheduled to have a first appearance hearing Thursday, June 1 in Magistrate Court.
Dixon committed financial card transaction and theft by taking when she used the victim’s credit card on five separate times without the consent of the card holder, the CCSO said.
She was observed using the stolen credit card in Macy’s store, according to the CCSO.
“Dixon used her position within the Sheriff’s Office to steal from inmates,” the Sheriff’s Office stated in the Nixle alert but did not specify what role she had in the CCSO.
Allen also said investigations are ongoing and “mistreatment of inmates, citizens, and employees will not be tolerated in Clayton under my leadership.”
