JONESBORO — In its regular meeting Monday, May 8, the Jonesboro City Council approved financing to buy 40 radios for the Police Department.
The council had previously approved the purchase from Motorola but worked on a financing deal.
The radios cost a total of $218,000 with a $45,000 down payment. The financed amount is $173,000 at 3.99% for four years.
In other action the council:
— Approved the purchase of 150 95-gallon sanitation trash bins for $9,600.
—Approved $23,866 to pay the 2023 special election costs. The original budget for the special election was $23,000.
— Approved a request from the Girl Scouts to host their annual Girls Scouts Bridging Ceremony May 6 at Lee Street Park.
— Heard a report from Jonesboro Economic Development Director Andrew Simpson about the Nouveau Bar and Grill’s rental fee for the City Green.
— Approved a conditional use permit for a private motorcycle club at 258 S. Main St.
— Approved a conditional use permit for a dance studio at 242 Stockbridge Road.
— Approved a minor subdivision plat for 100 Pine Circle.
— Moved forward on appointing the city clerk as the official records clerk and the assistant clerk as the alternate records clerk.
— Tabled a contract for landscaping and maintenance.
— Approved naming the park at 103 N. McDonough St. in honor of Hugh Dickson for 46 years of service to the city.
