JONESBORO — Improvements are slated for five of Clayton County’s high school athletic fields.
Forest Park, Charles Drew, Mundy’s Mill, Riverdale and Jonesboro high schools will receive $32.1 million in upgrades, which include new dugouts, concession stands, bleachers and scoreboards.
The projects will be paid for using Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax 6 funding.
The contracts were awarded to MEJA Construction.
Scope of work for Forest Park High, Charles Drew High and Mundy’s Mill High
♦ Reconstruction of baseball/softball dugouts
♦ Reconstruction of concessions and press box buildings
♦ Replacement of fencing
♦ Additional bleachers and new scoreboards
♦ Irrigation at the athletic fields
♦ Replacement of gym bleachers
♦ Gym floor refinishing
Scope of work at Riverdale High and Jonesboro High
♦ Reconstruction of baseball/softball dugouts
♦ New concessions and press box buildings
♦ Additional bleachers and scoreboards
♦ Track resurfacing and irrigation at athletic fields
♦ New restrooms at athletic fields
The work is schedule to begin on March 1 and completed by August 2024.
