LAWRENCEVILLE — Jonesboro High School recently finished as runner-up in the Georgia High School Mock Trial competition.
Jonesboro, the defending state champion, was undefeated through the first four rounds with victories over St. Andrews, Clarke Central, Cambridge and Norcross.
Jonesboro lost in the finals to Decatur during the state championships held March 22 to 24 in Lawrenceville.
Several Jonesboro students won individual honors as Anna Davis and Cameron Jones earned the Outstanding Attorney awards while Ray Olowoeshin and Destinee Ponder scored Outstanding Witness awards.
Stephanie Ezenne and Aidan Brooks were honored for their acceptance to the student State Bar.
Other team members are Joi Googer, Judah Whaley, Kerrington Cutter and Alonzo Williams.
“The coaches and family members of these students are extraordinarily proud of their success this year which included a top placement in a national competition in the fall as well as a trip to the state finals,” a statement from Clayton County Public Schools era.
This was Jonesboro’s 23rd straight trip to the Georgia State Mock Trial Championship.
