JONESBORO — The Jonesboro High Majestic Marching Cardinals have been invited to the 2024 Easter Egg Roll Event at the White House.
In a surprise virtual visit Wednesday, band members had the privilege of connecting with First Lady Jill Biden.
Expressing her admiration for the band’s talent and dedication, Biden shared insights from her 40 years of experience in education.
During the Zoom call, the band treated Biden with a sneak peek of their performance — further fueling the excitement for their upcoming appearance in Washington, D.C.
The event is is scheduled for Monday on the South Lawn of the White House.
“The Majestic Marching Cardinals band program is built on creating opportunities and experiences for our students. These experiences define who our students become and how they contribute to the world beyond playing instruments,” said Jonesboro band director Lynel Goodwin. “We are a band program, however, we pride ourselves in expanding the educational opportunities as well. The history of Washington D.C. and the White House speaks for itself, and we look forward to taking full advantage of the educational aspect of this trip and also having a great time as a band family.”
The Easter Egg Roll event, known for its array of educational activities and special performances, will center around the 2024 theme of “Eggucation”.
The Majestic Marching Cardinals are one of two high school bands selected to perform.
