A candidate for one of Gwinnett County’s school board seats is calling on state and local leaders to use the debate over school vouchers in Georgia as a chance to address root causes of struggles in public education.
Patrina King, a longtime youth advocate, recently kicked off her bid as one of two candidates trying to unseat School Board Member Tarece Johnson-Morgan in the May 21 nonpartisan District 5 race. Since kicking off her campaign earlier this month, however, she has taken aim at the school voucher debate.
