A suspect in the shooting death of a man at a Brookhaven tattoo shop on Thursday was arrested at a Sandy Springs apartment complex.
Brookhaven Police Uniform Patrol Division responded to a report at 9:25 p.m. on March 21 of a person shot at the Ink N Flesh tattoo shop at 4400 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, according to a release by Brookhaven PD. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and found a 32-year-old male dead from a gunshot wound.
The officers began interviewing witnesses to establish leads on the suspect. When the Brookhaven Police Criminal Investigations Unit responded to the scene, they began following up on leads generated by the uniformed officers, the spokesperson said.
That investigation led investigators to 8600 Roberts Drive, Sandy Springs, where the suspect vehicle was located inside the Preserve at Dunwoody apartment complex.
With the assistance of the Sandy Springs Police Department, a perimeter was established and the suspect, 35-year-old Jonathan Thomas, was observed walking toward the vehicle where he was taken into custody, the spokesperson said. Thomas is currently being held at the DeKalb County Jail.
Thomas has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, all felony charges, the spokesperson said.
No additional information about the victim’s identity of the victim is being released at this time.
