A babysitter and her boyfriend who were charged in the death of a 2-year-old child in 2020 entered guilty pleas, according to the Sandy Springs Police Department.
Kirstie Hannah Flood was first charged in the death of the child, Fallon Fridley, after police were called to the scene of an unresponsive child in an apartment at 507 Monterey Parkway on Dec. 9, 2020, the day the child died. She was a friend of the mother and served as the child’s babysitter, the SSPD reported at the time.
An autopsy revealed severe injuries that resulted in the child’s death, the SSPD report said.
Jeffrey Scott Meyers of Sandy Springs, who police called Flood’s boyfriend, was arrested and charged on Jan. 6, 2021, the SSPD reported.
On Monday, March 18, Flood and Meyers pled guilty to the child’s death, according to an Instagram post by the SSPD.
Flood had been charged with guilty to malice murder, felony murder, aggravated sexual battery, cruelty to children in the first degree, cruelty to children in the second degree, false statements, and tampering with evidence, according to the social media post. She was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Meyers was found guilty of murder in the second degree, the social media post reported. He has been given a 15-year prison sentence.
The SSPD said the case has been a great success between the department and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, specifically the Crimes Against Children Unit.
“Through our diligence and hard work, we were able to bring closure and a semblance of peace to the family,” the SSPD said in its post.
