Clayton County Public Schools recently celebrated Read Across America Day at E.J. Swint and at Thurgood Marshall elementary schools as CCPS leadership staff read to students.
At Swint, CCPS Chief Academic Officer for Secondary Schools Timothy Guiney read “The Proudest Blue: A Story of Hijab and Family”, written by Olympic medalist Ibtihaj Muhammad with S.K. Ali and art by Egyptian illustrator Hatem Aly.
Guiney read in-person to Swint’s pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade students and to the school’s second-graders via Zoom.
At Thurgood Marshall, CCPS Coordinator of K-12 World Languages Anna Cox read “She’s Got This” by gold medal-winning Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez with art by Nina Mata.
Cox read to two kindergarten classes and one class of first graders.
