LOVEJOY — The Lovejoy Police Department announcement Monday that several suspects were arrested in connection to a series of car thefts and break-ins.
In the Monday press release, Lovejoy Police said officers had been investigating the thefts and break-ins in February and the incidents were believed to be perpetrated by a ring of various individuals.
The Lovejoy Police Department found that local juveniles were responsible and detectives started gathering information on the thefts.
On Feb.10, police found and arrested a local juvenile in a stolen vehicle.
On Feb, 22, after several reported car thefts, officers with the Lovejoy Police Department and Clayton County Sheriff’s Office were actively searching for the stolen vehicles in the area.
Officers were led to the Panhandle Road and McDonough Road area.
Information suggested that one stolen vehicle was used to transport juveniles to another location in the county where another car was stolen, the Lovejoy police said.
Lovejoy Police intercepted the two stolen vehicles around the Sawgrass Community off Lovejoy Road.
The police gave chase and the juveniles abandoned one of the vehicles and ran from the car.
Officers chased the suspects and all four were arrested, the LPD said, and no one was seriously injured.
The suspects were transported to the Lovejoy Police Department’s CID building and interviewed by detectives.
Three juveniles and one 17-year-old man were charged with various offenses.
