JONESBORO — Clayton County Public Schools recently honored the best student-athletes throughout the school system.
The annual CCPS Scholar-Athlete Awards program was held Feb. 1 at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center with each high school honoring its top student-athletes.
“This is an outstanding time for our kids and we’re recognizing a group of individuals who have done far more than what is asked of the average student at their school,” CCPS Executive Director for Athletics Gary Townsend said. “To see the successes that our scholar-athletes obtain as they move on to college and they come back and speak with us it is incredible what they do. Our scholar-athletes are on a path of greatness.”
A rundown of the honorees:

D’Coby Bradley (football), Arick Mendez (cross country and soccer), Ariana Small (cheerleading), Trayvon Taylor (baseball) and Hannah Willis (track and field).
