JONESBORO — Elite Scholars Academy senior Cameryn Polk is going to Disney World.
The Clayton County student was recently selected as an official winner of the 2024 Disney Dreamers Academy Essay Contest.
The contest prize package includes an invitation to attend Disney Dreamers Academy — to be held at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla., from April 3 to 7.
In order to qualify for the award, Polk had to submit three separate essays responding to the following essay questions:
♦ What is your big career dream?
♦ When you begin that career, how will you make a difference, be a change maker, or be a unique innovator in that career field?
♦ Describe a challenge or setback that you have faced in your life. What have you discovered about yourself from that experience?
♦ What are your current obstacles to pursuing your career dream?
♦ How have you pursued opportunities to learn, grow and discover opportunities for yourself or others?
She also had to submit responses to three “Rapid Fire” questions:
♦ If you were given 24 hours to spend $1 million, how would you spend it?
♦ Who or what is your biggest source of inspiration and why?
♦ If you could be any Disney character, who would you choose and why?
It is through responses to these questions that the Disney Dreamers Academy seeks to find students who possess a winning combination of attributes that reflect strong character and an attitude that will take advantage of opportunities to achieve a successful future.
The Academy intends to teach these 100 students how to “Dream Big” and “Discover the Possibilities”.
The weekend will include educational sessions, guest speakers, and hands-on learning opportunities throughout the living classroom of the Walt Disney World Resort.
