As they celebrate 20 years as an organization this year, Nate Hammond has been named as the new Chairperson of SPIKE Studio.
SPIKE Studio was founded by Oscar “Spike” Harris, CEO of Turner Associates/Architects & Planners, Inc. In partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology and Benjamin E. Mays High School, the organization’s mission is to mentor, educate, and develop creative abilities in youth to promote greater diversity in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) profession. SPIKE Studio has served more than 1,000 students in the Metro Atlanta area through STEM-related events and programs, including its own Summer Academy.
As Chairperson, Nate will work closely with the organization’s board members, partners, sponsors, and donors to expand the program’s vision locally and nationally.
“Nate Hammond’s professionalism as an Atlanta business owner uniquely sets him apart,” says SPIKE Studio founder Oscar Harris. “He has lots of energy, wholesome values, a great personality, and is committed to propelling Spike Studio to the next level of community and professional industry impact, while powering the next generation of talented, underserved students to be exposed to architecture, engineering, and construction.”
As an active member of the organization for the last 2 years, Nate is excited to foster more connections with youth in and around the metro Atlanta area. “My goal is to partner with more schools to expose more young people of color to the architectural, engineering, and construction industry and engage with more businesses that will volunteer their time with these students,” says Nate.
