JONESBORO — The Jonesboro High School Majestic Marching Cardinals continue to soar to new heights as they are being featured in a national TV commercial.
The Marching Cardinals are featured in in the Apple Super Bowl Halftime commercial which debuted Jan. 12 on “Good Morning America.”
The commercial’s theme is to incorporate Atlanta culture commemorating Usher’s iconic influence on music and his selection as the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show headliner.
Selected to represent Atlanta’s marching band culture, the Marching Cardinals’ participation marks the first time a metro Atlanta high school band has been featured in a Super Bowl commercial.
The commercial will continue to air nationwide leading up to Super Bowl LVIII.
“This is a monumental moment in the lives of our students that deepens the rich history of the Majestic Marching Cardinals Band program under the leadership of Mr. Lynel Goodwin and strengthens the connection between our school community and the culture of Metro-Atlanta,” said Superintendent Anthony W. Smith. “This highly-decorated group of talented students represents us exceptionally well, and we are excited for the world to see how we do it, right here in Clayton County.”
Goodwin said these opportunities don’t come by chance for the Jonesboro band.
“Our students are dedicated to excellence and put in the work to make sure the Jonesboro Band continues to be the elite organization and ambassador for our community,” Goodwin said. “Being a part of this project is one of the most unique experiences. We are honored to be included, and we look forward to once again representing Clayton County on a national stage.”
