JONESBORO — The Clayton County Police responded to a viral social media video that addressed allegations against an officer from a December incident.
The video — “Cop Dares A Man To Enter His Home Then Grabs Him By The Throat” — posted on the We the People University YouTube channel has gotten more than 339,000 views in about a week.
The video and a CCPD body camera video shows officers telling a man he could be arrested on obstruction charges for refusing to give his name and refusing to answer questions about an investigation. The videos show the officer daring the man to enter a house and if he did enter the house, he would be put in handcuffs.
The incident stemmed from an original Dec. 15 call where CCPD officers responded to a College Park residence about a report of damage to property.
Officers were told by the victim there was an ongoing dispute between her and another woman.
Following an earlier dispute, it was reported that the woman, accompanied by four others, returned to the victim’s ouse and caused significant property damage.
The suspects smashed the windshield and front headlight of the victim’s vehicle and rammed another vehicle into the victim’s vehicle while it was parked.
Two of the suspects then kicked in the victim’s front door.
Police said there was more than $5,000 in damages reported by the victim.
The victim also told police that a male provided transportation to the females to another residence. The man agreed to guide officers to where he dropped the females off.
Officers went to that location and they saw a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle that was used to ram the victim’s car. The vehicle was found parked behind a house.
