JONESBORO — Jonesboro Police Chief Tommy Henderson was recently fired by Mayor Donya Sartor.
In a Fox 5 report, a letter dated Thursday from Sartor to Henderson said his termination was “effective immediately.”
On Friday, Sartor told 11Alive she would attempt to have Lt. Chris Cato take over as the interim police chief but approval is needed by the City Council.
A reason for the termination wasn’t reported.
Henderson was police chief since November of 2020.
The City of Jonesboro has also been without a permanent city manager since the resignation of Ricky Clark Jr. in April of 2023. Clark was later named the city manager of Forest Park.
David Allen has been serving as interim city manager since Clark’s departure.
The Jonesboro City Council was expected to approve Allen’s reappointment as interim city manager during its regular meeting on Monday, Jan. 8.
