JONESBORO — At its regular meeting on Jan. 2, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners rejected a proposal to extend public comments during meetings.
The proposal called for comments from the public to be extended to three minutes per person for a total of 30 minutes.
The current policy is two minutes per person for a total of 20 minutes.
The plan also called for public comments to be toward the beginning of meetings, not at the end like it is now.
Chairman Jeff Turner and Vice Chair DeMont Davis voted for the new proposal while Felicia Franklin, Alieka Anderson, and Gail Hambrick voted against.
The County Commission has gone back and forth on its public comment policy over the years.
Also during the meeting, Davis was unanimously approved to continue as the County Commission’s vice chair.
