COLLEGE PARK — A College Park man is in the Clayton County Jail after the fatal shooting of his father.
Michael Brandon Lambert, 41, of 5956 Friar Court, College Park, is charged on malice murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, the Clayton County Police Department said.
According to Clayton County Court records, Lambert had a first appearance hearing scheduled Friday, Dec. 15.
In a statement released Dec. 15, the Clayton County Police Department said officers responded to a home in the 5900 block of Friar Court in College Park in reference to a death investigation.
Upon entering the home, officers found Daryl Holmes, 56, deceased inside his home with apparent gunshot wounds.
On Dec. 12, Clayton County Police officers were called to residence for a domestic disturbance that took place between Holmes and his Michael Lambert.
Based on the information given to detectives, after the responding officers provided remedies to resolve the dispute and left the location, the dispute between Holmes and Lambert continued.
On Dec. 13, concern for Holmes’ safety came when family members were unable to make contact with him which is what led to Holmes being located deceased within his home.
“Detectives were able to quickly uncover facts which led to Michael Lambert being identified as the person responsible for the death of his father,” the CCPD said.
On Dec. 14, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a call alerting them that Lambert was at a location in Lake City.
Deputies quickly responded and subsequently transported Lambert to the Clayton County Police Department where he was interviewed and charged.
